March 10, 2025: The Kuki-Zo Council today announced that the indefinite shutdown imposed across all Kuki-Zo districts has been lifted with immediate effect.
A release by the Kuki-Zo Council, however, mentioned that in a move aimed at safeguarding regional interests, all district borders will remain sealed to prevent the free movement of Meitei individuals into the so-called Kuki-Zo territories.
Only vehicles transporting essential commodities will be allowed passage, it said.
The decision, reached after careful consultation with various stakeholders earlier today, reflects a balanced approach—one that restores normalcy and daily life for the Kuki-Zo people while maintaining critical border controls, it added.
The shutdown, initially imposed to draw attention to longstanding issues affecting the Kuki-Zo community, is now officially over.
