Kuki-Zo Declared Lifting of Shutdown Along NH as ‘Null and Void’

March 11, 2025: The Kuki-Zo Council, which earlier announced the lifting of the indefinite shutdown, has issued a new statement declaring its decision “Null and Void.”

“The status quo ante prevails, and the indefinite shutdown remains in force until further notice,” the KZC said in the fresh statement. It stated that the decision to enforce the shutdown came after the Coordination Committee on Tribe Unity (COTU) and government officials were unable to reach a mutually acceptable understanding.

Earlier, in the previous statement, the Kuki-Zo Council said the decision to lift the shutdown on NHs was reached after careful consultation with various stakeholders to restore normalcy and daily life for the Kuki-Zo people while maintaining critical border controls.
