Kumbi AC’s IDPs Return Home as Manipur Marks 2 Years of Unrest

Following over two years of unrest in Manipur since May 3, 2023, residents displaced from Kumbi Assembly Constituency’s Tampha Khunou area due to ongoing tensions have begun returning home.

An emotional Homecoming Ceremony was held at the Haotak Tampha Khunou Community Hall to mark their return.

The ceremony, organised by the BJP Kumbi Mandal, welcomed around 80 families back to their homes amidst emotional reunions.

Local MLA S. Premchandra, reflecting on the challenging period since May 3, 2023, emphasized the community’s resilience and the ongoing efforts for peace amidst the state’s current governance under President’s Rule.

MLA Premchandra reaffirmed the commitment to restoring normalcy, highlighting the community’s aspirations for lasting peace, socio-economic development, and the reconciliation of past grievances. Despite the strides made, concerns remain about achieving comprehensive peace across Manipur.

Manipur continues under President’s Rule, with efforts ongoing to address the underlying issues contributing to instability.

While peace remains elusive across Manipur, the ceremony highlights the community’s determination to forge ahead towards a peaceful and prosperous future.
