Feb. 3, 2025: Kumbi Dramatic Union (KDU) marked the 75th anniversary of its establishment with a grand celebration, featuring a Literary Trio Competition held at Kumbi Sandhong Upper Primary School.
The Literary Trio Competition included three categories: an essay competition on the topic “Role of Theatre in Man’s Life,” a painting competition on “Communal Harmony,” and a debate competition with the theme “Theatrical Development Can Bring Peaceful Living.”
The event saw the participation of students from Kumbi and surrounding schools, with nearly 200 students, ranging from Class 2 to Class 10, taking part.
During the event, KDU Convenor Bobbyjames Wahengbam emphasized the role of theater in social reformation. He spoke about how theater, particularly through the art of Lila drama, can bring about positive social change and contribute to a better society. The Convenor highlighted that such cultural programs are essential in fostering communal harmony and encouraging social awareness.
The event, which highlighted the importance of theater and arts in shaping a more harmonious and reformed society, also witnessed the presence of KDU Advisor Kh. Gyanebushan, President N. Sanajaoba, Secretary N. Matum, and National Teacher Awardee Kh. Indrakumar, who is also a program manager.
