Laitonjam Lanchenba Selected to Represent India at 3rd Asian Youth Games 2025 in Bahrain

In a proud moment for Manipur and the entire nation, young swimmer Laitonjam Lanchenba from Bheigyabati Leikai, Imphal East, has been selected to represent India at the 3rd Asian Youth Games 2025, to be held in Bahrain from October 23 to 27.

A rising star from Central Swimming Club, Lanchenba is among only seven boys chosen nationwide for the Indian swimming team, making his selection a significant achievement for the state.

Lanchenba earned his place in the national team through an exceptional performance at the Swimming Federation of India’s selection trials held in Bhubaneswar this June.

His timings surpassed national benchmarks, clocking 25.96 seconds in the 50m butterfly and 57.66 seconds in the 100m butterfly, both faster than the Group 2 National Records. He also secured second place in the 200m butterfly with a time of 2:13.11.

Currently training under High-Performance Coach Laitonjam Santosh at the Khuman Lampak Aquatic Centre, Lanchenba’s progress has been attributed to consistent effort, scientific training methods, and a strong support system.

He expressed deep gratitude to his coach, the Khuman Lampak Pool authorities, and the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports for providing him with top-class facilities and guidance that have elevated his performance to national and international levels.
