Chaos ensued today on the crucial NH-37 (Imphal–Jiribam Road) as a massive landslide and rockslide struck K. Sinam village, disrupting all vehicular movement under Kangpokpi District.
The picturesque tranquility near the waterfall along NH-37 turned into a scene of upheaval as tons of earth and rocks came crashing down, blocking the entire highway.
Commuters were caught off-guard, with several vehicles now stranded on either side of the debris-laden road.
Efforts to restore normalcy are underway, led by the road construction agency, which has deployed three excavators to clear the rubble.
However, authorities caution that it may take several hours before the highway is safe for traffic again.
