Security forces discovered a large stock of weapons and ammunition during a search operation in Pourabi village, under Lamlai Police Station in Imphal East District.
Among the items recovered were three SMG Carbines, each with a magazine; one 9 mm pistol with a magazine; 49 rounds of 7.62 SLR rifle live ammunition; 36 rounds of .303 live ammunition; 16 rounds of 7.62 AK rifle live ammunition; and 15 rounds of 9 mm live ammunition. Additionally, two 7.62 live blank cartridges, two .303 ammunition charge clips, three radio wireless sets with one charger, and four No. 36 hand grenades with six arming rings were seized. Authorities also found one No. 36 hand grenade without a lever, eight tube launching devices, two detonators, three 51 mm mortar shells, ten tear smoke shells, eight stun shells (normal), two tear smoke shells (soft nose), and two MK 13T explosives.
Other items included ten pieces of scrap items, one bulletproof jacket, and one raincoat. Officials believe the cache may have been stockpiled for use in militant operations. Investigations are currently underway to trace the origins and intended use of the recovered items. Security forces have intensified their presence in the area to prevent further illegal activities and ensure the safety of local residents.
