A horrifying incident has sent shockwaves through the Thoubal district after two young men from Langathel were viciously attacked and left for dead by an unidentified gang during a Thabal Chongba celebration at Heirok Heituppokpi on Cheiraoba Day.
The victims, Nepram Surjakanta and another youth identified as Robot and residents of Langathel Mamang Leikai, were discovered lying unconscious and critically injured by local residents late at night.
The duo was immediately rushed to nearby hospitals, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Their condition, though now stable, remains a matter of deep concern for the local community.
In a press meet held today at Langathel Yumjaomanbi Ching, Meira Paibi leader Mayengbam Ibemcha delivered a scathing condemnation of the attack. “The assailants left the duo thinking they were dead,” she stated. “If it weren’t for the quick response of local residents who found them and acted swiftly, we might have been reporting a double murder today.”
Ibemcha also issued a strong appeal to the clubs and Meira Paibi groups of Heirok, urging them to extend full cooperation to the police.
They warned that if the perpetrators are not swiftly identified and brought to justice, it could lead to public unrest. “Justice delayed will only add to the anger and pain already felt by the people,” they cautioned.
