Free legal services and medical camps were organized in Kakching to assist Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). The camps, held at the Indoor Stadium and Khomdonbi Memorial English School, Kakching Khunou, were virtually inaugurated by Supreme Court Judge and NALSA Executive Chairman, Justice Bhushan Ramkrishna Gavai.
A five-member delegation of Supreme Court judges, including Justices B.R. Gavai, Surya Kant, Vikram Nath, M.M. Sundresh, K.V. Viswanathan, and N. Kotishwar, visited Manipur for the 12th anniversary celebration of the Manipur High Court. Similar legal and medical camps were launched across the state.
Organized by the Legal Services Authority, Thoubal, and the District Administration, Kakching, with support from the Manipur Legal Services Authority under NALSA, the initiative benefited around 700 people. It provided free legal aid, access to government welfare schemes, identity document reconstruction, and medical services in medicine, surgery, obstetrics & gynecology, pediatrics, and respiratory medicine. Essential medicines were also distributed.
Key officials present at the event included Kakching Deputy Commissioner Rohit Anand (IAS), Chief Medical Officer Dr. Thaorem Rajen Singh, Judicial Magistrates Ksh. Maheta Devi and Neera Sinam, and SDOs Kherdananda Potsangbam and Takhellambam Millikan Singh.
Additionally, the District Election Office conducted a Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign, providing voter registration services. Free T-shirts and caps were distributed as part of the awareness drive.
