A legal awareness initiative was held at the ANJUMAN Lilong office on Friday, jointly organized with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Thoubal, and the Legal Aid Clinic, Kiyam Leitanpok. The event saw participation from nearly 200 community members.
During the session, Md. Zakir Hussain, Advocate, delivered an informative lecture on the NDPS Act and the government schemes addressing drug abuse and addiction. He detailed the legal implications of possessing, consuming, selling, or trafficking narcotic substances, raising awareness of the serious consequences under the law.
Mayanglambam Swami Singh, Advocate, provided insights on the POCSO Act, emphasizing the role of the community and stakeholders in preventing child sexual abuse and ensuring the protection of children under the law.
The programme was chaired by M.V. Habibullah Nadvi, Secretary of ANJUMAN, with Smt. Kshetrimayum Maheta Devi, Secretary of DLSA Thoubal; O. Ajit Singh, SDPO Thoubal; and K. Subash Singh, OC Lilong Police Station, as members of the presidium.
The event aimed to strengthen legal awareness among the public and encourage proactive community participation in preventing crimes and safeguarding rights.
