Various Liangmai Naga organisation in Manipur strongly condemns assualt on women by armed miscreant yesterday (12th January 2025) at Maremei Liangmai Village, Senapati District at around 7 pm.
According to joint statement issued by ‘Liangmai Pui Naga Ruangdi’ (Liangmai Women Organisation) and Liangmai Naga Katimai Ruangdi (Student) stated, “at the behest of RK. Remping and his grandsons and members of NSCN-IM cadres, perpetrated a heinous crime against 6 innocent women and 2 men in the Maremei Village”. It said, “they were attack with cane sticks, heavy blows from weapon butts, and mercilessly kicked leaving them gravely injured and traumatized”.
It stated, “the whole Liangmai Tribe unequivocally condemns the barbaric and inhuman attack that occurred yesterday night”. The statement added, the attacker even refuses the victims to be taken to the nearest hospital. However, with the intervention of Naga People’s Organisation (NPO), the injured victims were taken to Senapati Hospital and one critically injured victim has been transferred to Raj Medicity in Imphal.
The LPNR demands the immediate arrest of RK. Remping and his grandsons including the NSCN- IM cadres be apprehended and brought to justice without delay. A fair and impartial inquiry into the attack.
The Liangmai body also urge the State government, law enforcement agencies, Naga CSOs and all to condemn this act and take collective responsibility to ensure delivery of justice.
