Licypriya Foundation Brings Mega Health Camp to Thoubal, Over 4,000 Patients Benefit

A large-scale health initiative reached Thoubal district on Thursday as the Licypriya Foundation, in collaboration with Hi-Tech Medical College & Hospital, Bhubaneswar, and the Hi-Tech Group of Institutions, organised a Free Mega Health Camp at Samaram, opposite the Khongjom War Memorial Complex.

The programme was held alongside the inauguration of the Hi-Tech Information Centre, Manipur, which aims to provide round-the-clock healthcare access in the state.

Khangabok MLA Okram Surjakumar, inaugurating the event, underscored the urgent need for stronger healthcare support in conflict-hit Manipur. “No one should be left behind, healthcare must reach everyone,” he said, while appealing for collective efforts to rebuild the state.

The camp saw the participation of over 15 super-specialist doctors from across India, offering free treatment to nearly 4,000 patients on the first day alone. Health cards were also distributed to the attendees, with organisers confirming that the camp will continue tomorrow.

Distinguished guests included Dr. Tirupati Panigrahi, Chairman of Hi-Tech Group of Institutions, Engineer Rupesh Panigrahi, MLA (Odisha), Dr. Rakesh Panigrahi, Director, Hi-Tech Medical College, Rourkela, Prof. K. Yugindro Singh, Former Acting VC of Manipur University, Her Excellency Licypriya Kangujam, Special Envoy of Timor-Leste, and other dignitaries.

Speaking on the occasion, Kanarjit Kangujam (KK) Singh, Director of Hi-Tech Medical College, Bhubaneswar, highlighted the shortage of advanced medical facilities in Manipur despite the presence of private hospitals. He said the Hi-Tech Information Centre would help bridge this gap and reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment, citing its support to over 60 displaced and underprivileged students pursuing medical education.

The initiative, blending healthcare with humanitarian outreach, marks another step by the Foundation in addressing Manipur’s ongoing crisis and ensuring access to essential medical services for vulnerable communities.
