The Licypriya Foundation presented the Jose Ramos Horta Teacher Award 2025 to five outstanding educators from Manipur on Thursday at the Jose Ramos Horta International Peace Centre, Samaram, Thoubal District. The award, named after Nobel Peace Prize laureate and President of Timor-Leste, Jose Ramos Horta, recognizes the invaluable contributions of teachers across various fields.
Awardees received a memento, a shawl, and a cash prize. The recipients were Khangembam Indrakumar, Headmaster of Kumbi Sandhong Upper Primary School and National Teacher Awardee; Huidrom Premkumar, President of the World Thang-Ta Federation; Pheiroijam Sanabiten, Boxing Coach at Nongada Boxing Academy; Wanglembam Gobin, Headmaster of Laikon Upper Primary School, Kongba; and MM Amir Hussain, Volleyball Coach at AMIMYDO, Mayang Imphal.
K. Bidyarani, mother of Licypriya Foundation Chairperson Licypriya, presented the awards on behalf of the organization. The Foundation also announced that starting next year, each award will carry a cash prize of ₹1 lakh to further encourage educators’ contributions.
