A CRPF officer from Manipur was killed and four others injured after lightning struck a security outpost during an anti-Naxal operation in Jharkhand on Thursday evening.
The incident occurred at around 5:30 PM in Keriburu Village amidst heavy rainfall. The deceased officer has been identified as 46-year-old M. Prabo Singh of the CRPF’s 26th Battalion, who died on the spot.
Among the injured is Assistant Commandant Subir Kumar Mandal, who was seriously wounded and admitted to Tata Main Hospital in Noamundi. Two Jharkhand Police personnel were also among the injured.
Both officers were leading a joint CRPF–Jharkhand Police operation when the lightning struck. Officials stated that rescue efforts were hampered due to continuous rain.
