The Lions Club of Imphal has donated food items to the Old Age Home managed by the All Manipur Senior Citizen Welfare Association, Mongsangei, as a part of its Hunger Alleviation project. At a simple function held at the Home premises, the members of the Club handed over items like rice, dal, fresh vegetables, milk powder, tea leaves, etc., worth about Rs 25,000. The items were sponsored by Lion Dr W. Gopimohan Singh, Past District Governor of District 322D, and Lion W. Bhaktaraj Singh in fond memory of their father (Late) W. Prahlad Singh.
The President of the Club, Lion Manas Maisnam, said that Lions International had just observed the “Week of Service” on Hunger from January 3 to 11, 2026, on the theme “Hunger Free India”. Today’s activity by the Club is the culmination of the week-long service on hunger.
The General Secretary of the All Manipur Senior Citizen Welfare Association, B. Sanamacha Sharma, expressed that the Old Age Home is thriving virtually without any government aid and that such generous support by the Lions Club of Imphal is deeply appreciated.
The programme was attended by senior members of the Lions Club of Imphal and office-bearers of the All Manipur Senior Citizen Welfare Association.
