LISPO Hiyanglam Wabagai Crowned Champions of 1st District Level Open Tennis Ball Cricket Tournament

Kakching, March 21, 2026: LISPO Hiyanglam Wabagai emerged as the champions of the 1st District Level Open Tennis Ball Cricket Tournament 2026, defeating District Police Kakching by 2 wickets in a thrilling final match.

The tournament was organized jointly by the District Police Kakching and the District Sports Association (DSA) Kakching. A total of 11 teams participated in the competition, which began on March 9 at the DSA Kakching Playground. In the final played today, LISPO Hiyanglam Wabagai secured victory over District Police Kakching to lift the championship title.

The tournament was held under the theme “Play Well, Stay Fit.” The closing ceremony was graced by SP Kakching Priyadarshini Laishram (IPS) as the Chief Guest. Additional SP (Law and Order) Kakching Shankarjit Singh Loitongbam (MPS) attended as the President of the function. Other dignitaries present included Thongam Supreme, Branch Officer/SDC of DC Office Kakching; Kshetrimayum Ibobi, President of DSA Kakching; and Yengkhom Rajendra, President of Kakching Bazar Business Welfare Association, as Guests of Honour.

Also present were Additional SP (Ops) Kakching Amarjit Singh Lamabam; Officer-in-Charge of Kakching Police Station Pheiroijam Priyobarta; OC of Pallel Police Station Elangbam Romio; OC of Arong Nongmaikhong Police Station Wangkheimayum Romi Singh; OC of Waikhong Police Station Dr. Okram Jotin Singh; and OC of Kakching District Police Commando Soraisam Birla, along with many other officials and participants.

In individual accolades, Joychandra Thongam of LISPO Hiyanglam Wabagai was named Player of the Series for his outstanding performance, scoring 91 runs and taking 12 wickets. Khaidem Dhanajit of WCA Wabagai won the Highest Run Scorer award with 165 runs. Joychandra Thongam also claimed the Highest Wicket Taker award with 12 wickets. Tentha Brothers team received the Best Fair Play Team award.

District Police Kakching finished as runners-up, while LISPO Hiyanglam Wabagai lifted the winner’s trophy.
