March 05, 2025: To empower Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) living in relief camps, Deputy Commissioner Jiribam, Krishna Kumar, IAS, has directed officials to facilitate the marketing of handicraft products made by IDPs in local markets and on e-commerce platforms. He emphasized that providing livelihood opportunities is crucial for their self-sufficiency and mental well-being.
During his inspection of relief camps at Bidyanagar Sports Complex, Harinagar Children Home, and Jiribam Higher Secondary School, he interacted with IDPs, enquired about their concerns, and assessed the facilities provided.
He also appreciated the Relief Camp Committee for organizing weekly social service programs, stressing that such initiatives not only maintain cleanliness but also help reduce mental stress among displaced individuals.
To prevent health issues, he instructed the health department to ensure regular medical checkups and take necessary measures to prevent disease outbreaks in the camps. Additionally, he directed district-level officers to visit the camps regularly and ensure all required assistance is provided.
The visit was accompanied by Superintendent of Police Jiribam, Sheikh Mohd Zaib Zakir, Additional Deputy Commissioner Th. Manoranjan, EO Jiribam Municipal Council and Nodal Officer Relief Camps M. Surjit Singh, CMO Jiribam, SDCs, DLOs, and members of the District Level Executive Committee of Relief Camp, Jiribam.
