The Like Minded Group (LMG) Manipur extended financial assistance of ₹10,000 as an immediate relief measure to two families whose houses were completely gutted in a fire incident at Heingang Awang Leikai.
According to reports, the houses belonging to Ibochouba and Maikel were destroyed after a candle reportedly triggered the fire at around 7:00 am. In response to the unfortunate incident, members of LMG Manipur visited the affected families and handed over the assistance as a gesture of humanitarian support.
The relief distribution programme was led by LMG Manipur Secretary Ojit Sorokhaibam. Other members present during the visit included Treasurer Kunjeshwor Mangsatabam, Assistant Secretary Surendra Ningomba, and members Surjit Ngangomcha, Bihari Waikhom, Suni Nongthonbam, Joykumar Thokchom, and Boinao Maibam.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Ojit Sorokhaibam stated that unforeseen accidents can occur at any time, and no one can predict when misfortune may strike a family. He urged the public to extend help to victims during such difficult times and emphasised that prevention is always better than cure. He advised people to remain cautious while using fire and electrical appliances, ensure proper safety checks at home, and keep emergency numbers, especially that of the Fire Station, saved on their phones.
He further informed that LMG members contribute ₹100 every month to create a support fund aimed at assisting families affected by unforeseen tragedies. He appealed to the public to recognise and support LMG’s humanitarian initiatives and encouraged more people to join the group to collectively extend help to those in distress.
