Thoubal, April 12 : The Like Minded Group (LMG), Manipur, on Sunday extended relief assistance to the families affected by the bombing in Tronglaobi and the subsequent deaths during protests at a CRPF camp.

LMG members visited the four bereaved families to share in their grief and provide essential items. A one-minute silence was also observed for the peace of the five departed souls.

The LMG relief team included LMG Secretary Ojit Sorokhaibam, Treasurer Kunjeshwor Mangsatabam, Assistant Secretary Surendra Ningomba, along with members Surjit Ngangomcha, Suni Nongthonbam, Vajani Salam, Boinao Maibam, Inaoba Nongmathem, Joykumar Thokchom, and Mohen Ingudam.

Speaking during the visit, LMG Secretary Ojit Sorokhaibam said that the incident, in which innocent people were killed by a bomb while a mother and her two children were asleep, leaving the mother seriously injured, and three protesters lost their lives during agitation at the CRPF camp, is extremely unfortunate and heartbreaking. Such incidents must not recur, and the government should ensure the strictest punishment for those involved, he added.

He further stated that Laishram Jiten Singh, 48, who had been taking shelter at the relief camp opened in Moirang College since May 3, 2023, also died after being hit by CRPF fire during the protest against the Tronglaobi incident. This is another painful tragedy. Grief upon grief has befallen Jiten’s family. The government must undertake the responsibility of fully protecting the lives of displaced persons living in relief camps, he added.
