Locals resident voicing strong concerns over their road turning into a deathtrap, a flash blockade was imposed by the resident of New Checkon and Wangkhei Khunou area in Imphal East calling the attention of Local MLAs and authority concern to repair at the soonest.
According to locals, who took part in the road-block from commuters, the road from New Checkon to DC and JNIMS roads has been in worst condition and it has become a deathtrap for public and murky in rainy and dusty in summer making health hazardous.
Despite two previous repairs carried out by the local MLA, the situation has worsened due to the construction of government quarters in the area, according to the protestors.
They claimed that the blocking of the drainage system, combined with the passage of overloaded heavy trucks, has exacerbated the road’s condition, making it hazardous for daily commuters.
The protestors called for immediate action to address the issue and improve the road infrastructure for the safety and well-being of the residents and commuters.
