The Office of Rajya Sabha MP and Maharaja of Manipur, Leishemba Sanajaoba, has filed a written complaint to the Governor of Manipur alleging that IGP Themthing Ngashangva forcibly entered the Royal Palace complex at around 1:30 pm today and threatened security personnel posted at the residence of the MP.
In the letter signed by PA/PS Maisnam Shivadutta Singh, the MP’s office claims the IGP “barged inside the residential compound”, accused the MP of sheltering Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), and allegedly warned that an FIR would be filed against the security personnel for allowing the activity.
The complaint further describes the officer’s conduct as “unruly” and threatening to both the guards and the MP.
The letter also highlights that the MP’s residence is not merely a private home but the historical Royal Palace (Konung), a sacred site in Manipur, implying that the alleged intrusion amounts to sacrilege and disrespect to traditional authority.
The complaint urges the Governor to take immediate disciplinary action, including placing the IGP under suspension, to “restore dignity and respect” to the MP and the Palace, while attaching photo and video evidence.
