“Mahila Jan Sunwai” Held at Thoubal District

Thoubal, 11th March, 2026 (DIO): The Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW), in coordination with the District Administration Thoubal under the initiative of the National Commission for Women (NCW), organised “Mahila Jansunwai” today at the Counting Hall, DC Office Complex, Thoubal.

Initiating the programme, W. Phajatombi Devi, MCS, Member Secretary MSCW & Additional Director (IPR), said that every woman should be provided a direct and accessible platform to voice her grievances and seek institutional support. Through this coordinated effort, complaints related to domestic violence, workplace harassment, maternity benefits, abandonment, trafficking, and other forms of gender-based injustice will be heard and addressed in a time-bound manner by the Commission.

Addressing the gathering, Smt. Th. Tiningpham Monsang, Chairperson, MSCW, said that women from every part of the district who face problems related to harassment should raise their grievances and seek institutional support. She appealed to women to be bold and come forward to present their issues before the Commission. She added that such programmes will receive fruitful support.

Hundreds of women took part in the “Mahila Jansunwai” to ensure immediate hearing of complaints, registration and escalation of serious cases, legal guidance and procedural assistance, and time-bound follow-up mechanisms. Around ten women from the district raised their voices through walk-in complaints.

Mahila Jansunwai was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Thoubal Aribam Amarjit Sharma, Santa Khaidem, Legal Advisor, MSCW, Rajkishore Thiyam, Legal Advisor, MSCW, Sk. Sophia Moyon, Member, MSCW, DLSA, DPO, DPC/CEO ZP Thoubal, DSWO Thoubal, police personnel, One Stop Centre (OSC), and district-level officers from different departments.
