In a major security operation, the Manipur Police, in coordination with Assam Rifles, the Army, and other Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), recovered a total of 87 weapons and 57 rounds of ammunition from the hill districts of Churachandpur, Chandel, and Tengnoupal.
In a press release issued by the Office of the Director General of Police, Manipur Police Headquarters, Imphal, the operations were launched following specific intelligence regarding concealed weapons and explosives. Joint teams conducted simultaneous search operations across multiple sites in the interior and suspected areas over the past few days. Recovered weapons include M16 (1), MA1 Rifle (1), INSAS Rifle (1), 9mm FGC MK-II (1), .303 Rifle (2), Carbine (1), Single Barrel guns of various types (37), Double Barrel (1), Pistols of various types (11), Lathode (3), and Pompi (28).
In addition, seized ammunition comprised grenades (22), Lathode bombs (5), and assorted ammunition (30). Other recovered items included 23 radio sets, 2 radio chargers, and 2 BPJ plates.
The Manipur Police reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and security in the state and urged the public to cooperate with the security forces by promptly reporting any suspicious activities or information regarding illegal arms to the nearest police station or the Central Control Room.
Senior officials are working closely with all security stakeholders to ensure that such operations continue in a sustained and focused manner, with the aim of restoring normalcy, maintaining public order, and safeguarding the lives and property of citizens.
