Manipur has once again etched its name on the national adventure map as Dr. Kangabam Romeo Meetei, Director of the National Adventure Foundation (NAF) Manipur Chapter and veteran mountaineer, was conferred the prestigious Brigadier Gyan Singh National Adventure Award 2025.
The honour was presented at a grand ceremony at YMCA, New Delhi, on August 31, where Lieutenant General Raman Dhawan, President of NAF, handed over the award comprising a trophy, citation, and a monetary prize.
A pioneer of mountaineering and sport climbing in the North East, Dr. Meetei brings over 40 years of trailblazing service in adventure sports.
Beyond summiting mountains, Dr. Meetei has been a relentless mentor, inspiring youth to embrace outdoor challenges and resilience.
He currently serves as a faculty member at the Department of Teacher Education, Manipur University, and as visiting faculty at the National Sports University, nurturing the next generation of adventurers.
