Manipur Beat West Bengal 3-0 to Lift Dr. B.C. Roy Trophy After 25 Years

Manipur ended a 25‑year title drought by defeating defending champions West Bengal 3‑0 in the final of the Dr. B.C. Roy Trophy (Junior Boys’ National Football Championship Tier‑1) at the Guru Nanak Dev University Sports Complex.

Lourembam Naocha Singh opened the scoring in the 17th minute with a composed left-footed finish after receiving a precise cross from Khutleibam Sultan. The lead was doubled in the 37th minute when Ngayungmi Kashung capitalised on a rebound to slot home, giving Manipur firm control of the match before halftime.

Despite West Bengal’s attempts to find a way back, their top scorer Rajdeep Paul was effectively neutralised by Manipur’s disciplined defence and relentless pressing throughout the contest. The victory was sealed in stoppage time when Amom Krish Singh scored his sixth goal of the tournament in the 90+2nd minute, ensuring a memorable triumph.

This victory marks Manipur’s third Dr. B.C. Roy Trophy title and their first since the 1999–2000 edition, underlining the state’s continued strength in youth football and providing a huge boost to their developmental programme.
