Manipur BJP MLAs Begin Leaving for Delhi for Crucial High Command Meeting on December 14

Manipur BJP MLAs have begun leaving for New Delhi to attend a crucial meeting called by the BJP High Command, scheduled to be held on December 14 at the party headquarters. The development has sparked renewed speculation over the possible formation of a popular government in Manipur.

The move follows the recent visit of President Droupadi Murmu to the state and her assurance on restoring normalcy. Former Chief Minister N. Biren Singh stated that a popular government may be installed soon, though he clarified that there is no official confirmation at present.

BJP MLA T. Robindro (Thanga AC) said that the MLAs have been officially informed and called by senior party leaders in New Delhi. He said the agenda of the meeting has not yet been disclosed but expressed hope for a positive outcome. Referring to the ongoing President’s Rule, he noted that it has been in place for nearly a year and cannot be extended again, adding that the meeting is expected to provide clear direction from the Centre in the interest of the people of Manipur.

Political observers believe that the BJP High Command’s decision to convene MLAs from all communities indicates serious deliberations at the Centre on the future political roadmap for the state. Sources also said that Kuki-Zo BJP MLAs have been invited to the meeting.

Altogether, 37 BJP MLAs from different communities are expected to participate in the meeting.

The MLAs who left Imphal on Saturday include Govindas Konthoujam, Heikham Dingo, Karam Shyam, S. Keba, S. Rajen, Th. Shyamkumar, Kh. Ibomcha, Leishangthem Susindro, Paonam Brojen, S. Kebi, Md.
