Imphal, January 26, 2025: Manipur joined the nationwide celebration of the 76th Republic Day with mass participation across the state. The State Level Republic Day Celebrations, 2025, were held at the historic Kangla, with Governor of Manipur Ajay Kumar Bhalla unfurling the National Flag and taking the salute from various march-past contingents.
Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, Cabinet Ministers, Members of Parliament, Members of the Legislative Assembly, Chief Secretary, Security Advisor, Director General of Police, and senior civil and police officials participated in the celebrations.
The event began with the Governor inspecting the Guard of Honour, accorded by a contingent commanded by Jay Barange, IPS Probationer, Thoubal District.
The Governor unfurled the Tricolour amidst the playing of the National Anthem by the 1st Battalion Manipur Rifles Band and took the salute from 54 march-past contingents, including various band contingents. The parade was commanded by Laishram Sarita Devi, MPS, SP (Sports), Manipur.
Additionally, 10 cultural troupes and tableaux from 12 different departments, along with a special drive-past by the Manipur Fire Service Department, added vibrancy to the celebrations.
During the event at Kangla, officers and personnel of the Manipur Police Department were honored with the Police Medal for Meritorious Service for Republic Day 2023 and Independence Day 2023.
