Manipur Celebrates 77th Republic Day with March-Pasts and Cultural Shows at Kangla

Parade contingents, award ceremonies, and cultural performances mark the occasion on January 26, 2026

Imphal, January 26, 2026: Manipur joined the nation in celebrating the 77th Republic Day with elaborate festivities at the historic Kangla. The celebration featured a grand march-past of 67 contingents, including bands, mounted police, and uniformed services, accompanied by 14 cultural troupes and departmental tableaus.

Personnel from the Manipur Police Department and Fire Service were honored with President’s Medals for Distinguished and Meritorious Service. Notable recipients included officers from the Criminal Investigation Department, India Reserve Battalions, and other key units.

The Chief Secretary addressed the gathering at the 1st Battalion Manipur Rifles Parade Ground, paying tribute to the Constituent Assembly for framing the Constitution. He emphasized the Constitution’s role in ensuring justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity, and reminded citizens of their responsibilities to preserve national unity, protect public property, and promote inclusive development.

The parade also showcased students, youth groups, differently-abled participants, and cultural performances, reflecting Manipur’s rich heritage and diversity. A precision band display added grandeur to the event, underscoring the discipline and dedication of participants.

Earlier in the morning, the Tricolour was unfurled at Lok Bhavan, followed by the main celebrations at Kangla, bringing together civil, police, and security officials in a display of unity and pride.
