Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has condemned the recent drone bombing incident near the 5th Manipur Rifles (MR) camp at Kangchup Foothill, Imphal West, describing it as “unfortunate.” He assured the public that an investigation is underway to identify and prosecute those involved.
Addressing the media on Wednesday, Singh expressed concern over the attack, stating, “While the region has seen a decline in violence in recent months, this incident is deeply regrettable. The police are actively pursuing the matter to ensure justice is served.”
The bombing occurred at approximately 9:30 PM on January 14, targeting a temporary Manipur Rifles camp situated in a critical area near Kangpokpi district. According to initial reports, two bombs were dropped via drones, believed to be operated by Kuki militants, and exploded near a bunker within the camp.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident. The Chief Minister emphasized the need for heightened vigilance and security measures in the area, given its strategic importance.
