Manipur (India B) produced a spectacular first-chukkar assault to rout Chhattisgarh (India C) 9–4 on Day 2 of the 15th Manipur Polo International 2025, stealing the spotlight with a commanding victory before India A later delivered a dramatic draw against Colombia.
Manipur set the tempo early, hammering five unanswered goals in the opening chukkar. Bon Bon led the carnage with a remarkable hat-trick, while Leishemba and Atanga added one each to complete the 5–0 sweep.
Skipper T. Pradeep Kumar extended the lead with a brace in the next chukkar, while Chhattisgarh finally opened its account through Kh. Sushillo, making it 7–1 at halftime.
Manipur’s L. Rohit struck again in the third chukkar, before Chhattisgarh staged a late fightback with goals from Swarna Kumar (2) and Sushillo (1), but the gap proved too wide to recover. The match ended 9–4 in favour of the home side.
In the earlier match, India A snatched a thrilling 8–8 draw against Colombia after trailing 7–3 going into the final chukkar. A sensational burst of five goals in just over three minutes, courtesy of Ravinder Mang and Mukesh Gurjar (two each) and Vijay Singh, caught Colombia off guard, neutralising the dominance they had built through Alejandro and Federico Puyana.
Despite Colombia being ahead 1–1 after the first chukkar and stretching the lead with strong play in the next two periods, India A’s final-minute resurgence left the crowd erupting in disbelief and applause.
The tournament continues tomorrow with the United States facing India C, followed by a much-anticipated clash between India B and India A.
