Manipur demolishes Columbia 10-3; India A thumps Chhattisgarh 8-4

On the fifth day of the 15th Manipur Polo International 2025, organized by the Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association at Mapal Kangjeibung, Manipur crushed Columbia 10-3 while India A (IPA) defeated India C (Chhattisgarh) 8-4.

Manipur, playing as India B, once again demonstrated their dominance in the field, handing out a crushing defeat to the Columbian team by pumping in 10 goals while conceding only 3.

The local team set the tone in the first chukker itself when Bon Bon Meitei, who is in scintillating form in this tournament, pumped in three goals while Columbia failed to open its account. In the second chukker, Columbia seemed to recover a little from the onslaught it received earlier as Federico Puyana and Alejandro Puyana scored for the team. Manipur, on the other hand, did not loosen its hold on the game, scoring three more goals with Pradeep Kumar finding the target twice and Bon Bon scoring the third. The second chukker ended with Manipur leading 6-2.

The third chukker saw Manipur galloping away with the match, adding three more to its tally without any answer from Columbia. Bon Bon scored twice while Pradeep scored the third goal for Manipur in this round. At the end of this chukker, Manipur took what looked like an unassailable lead of 9-3.

The last chukker was played at a subdued pace with both teams not going full steam, as if resigned to the end result of a Manipur win. Alejandro Puyana scored for Columbia to take his team’s total tally to 3, while Bon Bon added one more goal to take his personal tally to 7 goals and Manipur’s total to 10, sealing a crushing 10-3 victory for the host team.

Earlier, in the 1st ground, India A (IPA) scored a convincing 8-4 victory over Chhattisgarh.

In the first chukker, Ravinder Mang scored for India A while Chhattisgarh failed to open its account. In the second chukker, Vijay Singh, who is having a good run in this tournament so far, scored a brace while Major Anant Rajpurohit scored one more. Chhattisgarh also scored twice in this chukker through Swarna Kumar and Sushillo. At the end of the second chukker, India was leading 4-2.

Vijay Singh once again showed his excellent form, scoring two more goals in the third chukker while Mukesh Gurjar added the third. Chhattisgarh also added two more goals in this chukker with Captain Lt Col Aman scoring both. The scoreline read 7-4 at the end of the third chukker.

In the fourth chukker, Vijay Singh added another goal — his fifth in the match — to take India A’s tally to 8 even as Chhattisgarh failed to score. India A won 8-4, securing its first victory of the tournament.

On Thursday, 27 November, the sixth day of the 15th Manipur Polo International, Manipur will clash with the United States of America.
