Manipur Government Approves New Secretariat Police Station and 12 SDPO Posts for Enhanced District Policing

In a move aimed at bolstering law enforcement capabilities across Manipur, the Government has granted approval for the establishment of a new Secretariat Police Station at Mantripukhri and the creation of twelve Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) positions in various districts.

The decision, prompted by the impending relocation of the State Civil Secretariat and Police Headquarters, seeks to ensure robust security coverage and effective law enforcement in critical areas.

The proposed Secretariat Police Station will serve not only the new administrative complexes but also neighboring institutions like the Manipur High Court and the IIIT.

Additionally, the creation of SDPO posts in districts such as Kangpokpi, Tengnoupal, and Chandel aims to address existing shortages and enhance operational efficiency in policing.

“This initiative marks a pivotal step toward modernizing policing infrastructure and improving public safety,” remarked the Director General of Police in a release, emphasizing the government’s commitment to sustainable development in law enforcement.
