On the occasion of 52nd Manipur statehood day, the Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla wishes the people of Manipur.
In a statement issued from Raj Bhawan, the Governor said, ‘Manipur became a full-fledged State of the Indian Union on the 21st January, 1972 and it was a dream come true for the people of Manipur”.
The statement said, Manipur became equal partners with other States in building a modern India and along with it came the responsibilities and opportunities.
It is in the hands of the people of the State to take full advantage of these new avenues which have been opened up and shape their destiny. Since attaining Statehood, Manipur has, indeed, been making rapid progress in different fields of development.
There is need to sustain this pace to march in tandem with the rest of the country, welfare measures need to be pursued more vigorously, based on equity where all citizens of the State irrespective of caste, creed or religion feel the sense of belonging to an egalitarian society.
