Manipur Govt Bans Hoarding of Essential Commodities Amid Flood Crisis

In light of the ongoing floods and landslides disrupting multiple parts of Manipur, the Directorate of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution (CAF&PD) has issued a strict public notice prohibiting the hoarding and unauthorized stockpiling of essential commodities.

Invoking the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, the department has clearly stated that no individual, trader, wholesaler, retailer, or business entity is allowed to engage in hoarding during this critical period caused by inclement weather. Any such act will attract strict legal action under relevant laws.

To ensure uninterrupted access to essential items for the public, the department has also encouraged citizens to report any hoarding or black-marketing activities to the helpline numbers: 7005319645 and 9862619525.

The directive, signed by K. Bono Singh, Director of CAF&PD, aims to stabilize the supply chain and prevent exploitation during the crisis.
