To curb the surge in rice prices and provide relief to the people, the Directorate of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Government of Manipur, will launch the Mobile Sale of rice under the Open Market Sale Scheme (Domestic) [OMSS (D)] across all 16 districts.
In the first phase, each Assembly Constituency will receive 50 quintals. The base price has been fixed at ₹2,350 per quintal, inclusive of loading and unloading charges, with districts allowed to add up to ₹5 per kg for transport and handling. Families can purchase a maximum of 5 kgs each by producing Aadhaar.
For Valley districts, rice can be lifted from the CAF&PD godown at Sangaiprou on credit, while Hill districts will lift from either CAF&PD or FCI godowns at ₹2,250 per quintal. District Collectors and DSOs have been instructed to ensure timely intervention and wide publicity for the success of the drive.
