Manipur Govt. Services’ Federation Demands Ban on Re-Engagement of Retired Employees

Feb 28, 2025 : The Manipur Government Services’ Federation (MGSF) has submitted a representation to the Chief Secretary of Manipur, urging an immediate and complete ban on the increasing practice of engaging and re-engaging retired employees and officers.

The federation described the practice as irregular, unfair, and rooted in favoritism, nepotism, and corruption, stating that it goes against established rules.

According to MGSF, the continuation of such appointments demoralizes serving employees and negatively impacts those in feeder posts awaiting promotion.

The federation has also sent copies of its representation to the Governor of Manipur, additional chief secretaries, principal secretaries, commissioners, secretaries, and heads of departments, urging them to discourage the practice and uphold employee morale.

Additionally, MGSF has submitted a reminder letter to the Chief Secretary, requesting an appointment to discuss various issues concerning employees, teachers, and pensioners at the earliest. The federation has emphasized that allowing retired personnel to continue in service affects productivity, accountability, and service quality and has called for immediate action in the larger interest of public service.
