In recognition of valour in Operation Sindoor, the Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, felicitated fighter pilot and Vir Chakra awardee Squadron Leader Rizwan Malik at Raj Bhawan in Imphal. The state also announced an award of Rs. 10 lakhs on Monday for his gallantry.
Squadron Leader Rizwan Malik from Manipur is one among the nine Indian Air Force officers who have been conferred the Vir Chakra medal for targeting the headquarters of terrorist groups in Muridke and Bahawalpur, as well as Pakistani military assets, during Operation Sindoor.
Altogether, 36 air warriors of Operation Sindoor were conferred with gallantry awards, including nine Vir Chakras, one Shaurya Chakra, and 26 Vayu Sena Medals.
