Feb 20, 2025 : With a clarion call for peace, Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla has urged all people, particularly the youths in the Valley and Hills, to surrender looted and illegally held weapons and ammunition to the nearest police station (Police Outpost/Security Forces Camp) within the next seven days, effective from today.
The Manipur Governor has also assured that “no punitive action would be initiated if such weapons are returned within the stipulated time,” and that such an act of returning weapons will be considered a powerful gesture toward ensuring peace. However, strict action will be taken against those found in possession of such weapons after the deadline.
According to a statement issued from Raj Bhavan, “The people of Manipur, both in the Valley and Hills, have suffered immense hardship for over 20 months due to a series of unfortunate incidents affecting peace and communal harmony.”
“In the greater interest of restoring normalcy so that people can return to their daily activities, all communities in the state must come forward to ensure the cessation of hostilities and the maintenance of peace and order in society.”
