Manipur Guv Launches Digital Payment System for Transport Services

Citizens can now pay all the transport-related fees digitally through POS terminals and online systems, ensuring a seamless and contactless experience. This initiative by the State Transport Department was launched this afternoon by Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhawan.

Perhaps, Manipur may be second in the region to introduce the Cashless Payment System for Transport Services and the implementation of electronic Driving Licences (eDL) and electronic Registration Certificates (eRC). From 18th July 2025, transport-related payments can be made through POS terminals, UPI, cards, and other online modes. From 1st August 2025, citizens can carry their DLs and RCs digitally via DigiLocker and mParivahan apps, eliminating the need for physical documents.

During the event, the Governor of Manipur appreciated the department’s efforts and highlighted the role of technology in promoting good governance. The Secretary of Transport informed that thirty-two services from the national Parivahan Sewa portal are now available in the state, with more to follow.

This transformative initiative by the Transport Department, Government of Manipur, marks a major step in enhancing transparency, efficiency, and citizen convenience.
