Manipur is Very Weak in Financial Literacy: IPR Director During AMSU Event

At a felicitation ceremony for newly elected student leaders held alongside the Ningol Chakkouba celebration at the AMSU headquarters in the DM University Campus in Imphal, Director of Information & Public Relations, Ng. Uttam, highlighted that winning an election is “only the first step” in leadership. He stressed that true success lies in fulfilling the responsibilities and welfare commitments made to students.

Uttam encouraged the young leaders to strike a balance between activism, academics, and career development, noting that sustainable leadership requires integrity, transparency, and openness to suggestions. He further urged student bodies to engage in dialogue over division, remain neutral, and avoid becoming instruments of powerful individuals.

Highlighting the need for continuous capacity-building, he suggested regular workshops in areas such as financial literacy—an area he said Manipur is still weak in. Calling for unity among civil bodies, he added that if organisations genuinely want cohesion, they must adopt a fair and collective mechanism for choosing leaders rather than functioning under a single dominating figure.
