Manipur reported 15 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, pushing the total number of infections recorded since June 1, 2025, to 217. According to the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP-75/covid/2020), the number of active cases in the state has now risen to 135.
A total of 60 samples were tested in the past 24 hours, reflecting a positivity rate of 25%.
No COVID-related fatalities have been reported during the ongoing wave. Since June 1, Manipur has tested 713 samples for COVID-19.
Cumulatively, since the start of the pandemic in 2020, Manipur has logged 140,257 confirmed cases, 137,973 recoveries, and 2,149 deaths.
Amid the detection of emerging subvariants such as LF.7, XFG, JN.1, and NB.1.8.1, the Government of Manipur has urged residents to continue following COVID-appropriate behaviour, including mask usage, hand hygiene, and social distancing in crowded places.
India COVID-19 Update
As of June 27, India has 3,256 active COVID-19 cases, with 23,581 patients discharged during the recent wave. However, four fatalities were reported from different states:
Delhi: A 64-year-old woman with multiple comorbidities including sepsis, septic shock, severe bilateral pneumonia, acute-on-chronic chronic kidney disease, type 2 respiratory failure, and diabetes mellitus.
Haryana: A 79-year-old woman with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung cancer, and HIV.
Jammu & Kashmir: A one-year-old girl child diagnosed with community-acquired pneumonia, respiratory distress, global developmental delay, and aspiration pneumonia.
Madhya Pradesh: A 50-year-old woman with septic shock, type 1 respiratory failure, acute kidney injury on chronic kidney disease, bilateral hydroureteronephrosis, COVID-19, ARDS, left-sided pneumothorax, metabolic acidosis, and encephalopathy.
Health authorities across the country continue to monitor the situation closely and are emphasizing the importance of vaccination and early testing for symptomatic individuals.
