Manipur Logs 29 New COVID-19 Cases; Active Caseload Rises to 77: Health Department

Manipur reported 29 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total confirmed infections since June 1 to 82, according to the Health Department. The latest cases were detected from 65 samples tested between 2 PM on June 19 and 2 PM on June 20.

With three recoveries today, the cumulative number of discharged patients stands at five, while the state’s active caseload has climbed to 77. No fatalities have been reported in the current surge.

Since the start of the pandemic in 2020, Manipur has logged a total of 140,122 cases, 137,896 recoveries, and 2,149 deaths.

Health authorities continue to urge residents to follow COVID-appropriate behaviour, especially amid the rise of newer subvariants such as LF.7, XFG, JN.1, and NB.1.8.1.

India COVID-19 Update

At the national level, India’s active COVID-19 caseload stood at 5,608 on June 20, showing a decline of 368 cases from the previous day. Since January 2025, a total of 18,256 recoveries and 120 deaths have been reported, including four deaths in the last 24 hours. All four deceased were elderly individuals with pre-existing conditions.
