In an electrifying start to the 51st Junior National Aquatic Championship in Ahmedabad, Manipur’s young swimmers showcased remarkable prowess on the opening day.
Laitonjam Lanchenba, son of Laitonjam Kanta and Sonai, emerged as the star, securing double gold medals in the Boys Group 2 category.
His victories included a stunning performance in the 200m Individual Medley, clocking an impressive 2 minutes and 16.42 seconds. Lanchenba continued his dominance with another gold in the 50m Breaststroke, finishing in 30.84 seconds.
Adding to Manipur’s glory, Leishangthem Bishorjit Singh contributed to the medal tally by clinching a bronze in the fiercely contested 50m Backstroke event, achieving a commendable time of 30.74 seconds.
This outstanding achievement marks a proud day for Manipur’s swimming community, setting a promising tone for the days ahead with more events and opportunities to excel on the national stage.
