Two years after the eruption of the devastating conflict that fractured Manipur on May 3, 2023—a turmoil that claimed over 250 lives, displaced more than 60,000 people, and left homes and hopes in ashes—the people of Manipur rose today with unwavering determination to defend the ideals of integrity and pursue peace at any cost.
Across the battered landscape, from the misty hills to the restless valleys, thousands gathered in solemn remembrance and bold solidarity, vowing that the fabric of unity would not be torn apart by violence and division.
The Federation of Civil Society Organisations, Manipur (FOCS), took the lead with an emotive Ningshing Numit observance at Yumnam Khunou Community Hall in Khundrakpam, Imphal East, where hearts beat in unison for reconciliation and justice.
Soon after, the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) galvanized the masses at the Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium with the Manipur’s Peoples Convention, a thunderous assembly where thousands of voices echoed the unrelenting demand for an honourable and peaceful resolution.
In parallel, in Kakching district, the Arambai Tenggol fraternity convened a stirring memorial at Thongjao Awang Leikai ground, reaffirming solidarity among the people.
Under heightened security vigilance, with Central Armed Police Forces patrolling the streets and flag marches signaling both caution and reassurance, Manipur’s citizens stood tall—not as divided fragments, but as one people—proclaiming before the nation and the world that integrity and peace shall triumph, no matter the cost.
