JAN 8, 2025 (IMP): Lok Sabha MP (Inner-Manipur) Dr. Bimol Akoijam has sought information from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on the legal validity and clarity regarding the existence of anything related to a buffer zone in Manipur by filing an RTI application.
The MP also sought to know whether any buffer zones have been declared that segregate or restrict the free movement of Zo and Hmar citizens from Meitei citizens and vice versa. The application further seeks copies of notifications, if any, declaring such buffer zones, along with details of the legal provisions, laws, and executive orders under which they have been notified.
The RTI further seeks clarity on the authority responsible for declaring these zones and the constitutional or administrative framework governing their implementation.
