Jan. 30, 2025: Manipur marked Martyrs’ Day, also known as Sarvodaya Day or Shaheed Diwas, today with a solemn ceremony to pay tribute to the brave martyrs who laid down their lives for India’s independence.
The event, held at the Gandhi Memorial Hall in Imphal, witnessed significant participation from the state’s leadership and the public.
The occasion holds special significance as it coincides with the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, further amplifying the spirit of peace and sacrifice.
Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla graced the occasion as the chief guest, leading the congregation in paying respects to the martyrs by laying a wreath at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi.
Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, accompanied by his cabinet colleagues, MLAs, and senior government officials, also attended the ceremony, highlighting the state’s unity in honoring those who fought for the nation’s freedom.
Highlighting Gandhi’s enduring legacy of non-violence, truth, and self-reliance in his social media handles, Biren emphasized that Gandhi’s principles continue to inspire the nation and serve as guiding lights in the collective pursuit of building a promising future.
