Imphal, Jan, 30 : Manipur has once again earned international recognition in Sepaktakraw as representatives from the state departed for Japan to participate in the AICHI–NAGOYA 2026 Games Exercise (Test Event), scheduled to be held from 30 January to 02 February 2026 in Nagoya, Japan.
The Indian Sepaktakraw Federation has selected Waikhom Jiten Singh, who is also the present President of the All Manipur Sepaktakraw Association (AMSTA), to officiate as referee at the international test event. Manipur player S. Malemnganba has also been included in the Indian Sepaktakraw team.
The Indian contingent departed from New Delhi last night for Nagoya, Japan, and is scheduled to return on 03 February 2026. As per official instructions, the selected referee had reported in New Delhi on 27 January 2026 to complete the required formalities.
On the occasion, AMSTA General Secretary Ch. Geskant extended heartfelt best wishes to both the player and the referee. He stated that their selection for an international assignment is a proud moment for Manipur Sepaktakraw and reflects the dedication and consistent efforts of athletes and officials from the state. Geskant expressed confidence that they will uphold the honour of Manipur and India through their performance and professionalism in Japan.
The Manipur Sepaktakraw Association and the entire Sepaktakraw fraternity of the state have wished them success for the prestigious international assignment.
