In a proud moment for the Manipur Police force, Director General of Police Rajiv Singh yesterday felicitated seven police personnel who brought laurels to the state by winning multiple medals at the 23rd Asian Masters Athletics Championship held at J.N. Stadium, Chennai, from November 5 to 9.
The ceremony turned into a celebration of discipline, endurance, and sporting passion as officers from different units proved that duty and athletic commitment can go hand in hand.
Dy. CO 3 IRB W. Thoiba Singh opened the medal count with a Bronze in Pole Vault (Men 50+), while Insp. Md. Imtiyaz Rehman of TBL CDO added another Bronze in the 500m Race (Men 40+).
Women officers made a strong mark on the international stage. W/SI L. Bembem Devi (CID-SB) secured 1 Gold, 1 Silver, and 1 Bronze in the 200m steeplechase, triple jump, and pole vault events in the Women’s 45+ category. W/SI Th. Radhesana Devi (Cyber Crime PS) delivered an impressive performance with 1 Gold and 4 Silver medals in relay, sprint, hurdles, and long jump, also under the Women’s 45+ category.
HC/IW N. Brajamani Singh claimed a Bronze in the 5 km Walking Race (Men 45+), while HC K. Romeshchandra Singh of 8 IRB (CID-SB) earned a Silver in Long Jump (Men 35+). Rifleman S. Somananda Singh of 3 IRB completed the tally with a Bronze in Long Jump (Men 40+).
