Manipur Police Crack Down on Illegal Liquor Sales

In response to community complaints regarding increased youth presence around liquor shops during late hours, Manipur Police intensified their efforts to curb illegal liquor activities. Recent operations conducted by security forces at various locations including Rengkai, Bible Hill, Zou Colony, and Lighthouse Lane under Churachandpur-PS, Churachandpur District have resulted in significant seizures and disposal of alcoholic beverages.

During the operations, a total of 517 litres of local wine, 8 litres of IMFL Rum, 212 cans of beer, and 49 litres of IMFL Whiskey were confiscated and subsequently disposed of by the authorities. The crackdown was prompted by concerns raised by local residents, highlighting the influx of young individuals frequenting liquor outlets during nighttime hours.

Additionally, at Tengnoupal Naka Check Post under Tengnoupal-PS, Tengnoupal District, security forces intercepted a four-wheeler traveling from Moreh to Imphal. The vehicle, driven by Md Zamir Khan (23) of Moreh Ward No. IV, was found to contain five boxes holding 120 bottles of suspected IMFL. The incident further highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to address illicit liquor activities in the region.

The Manipur Police continue to investigate these incidents to ensure the safety and well-being of local communities, aiming to deter unlawful distribution and consumption of alcohol.
