The Manipur Police Department has launched a special traffic enforcement drive in Imphal, targeting violators of traffic rules. This drive has set a new record with a significant increase in fines collected, marking a milestone for traffic law enforcement in the state.
The operation took place in front of the historic Kangla Fort under the strict supervision of DGP Manipur Police, Rajiv Singh. High-ranking officials, including IGP Themthing Ngashangwa, DIG Maharabam Pradeep Singh, SP Imphal West Ksh. Shivakanta, SP Traffic Pramesh Arambam, and several newly inducted MPS officers, were also present, actively participating in the drive.
During the operation, police removed tinted glasses from multiple vehicles and issued challans to individuals found riding two-wheelers without helmets, as well as those using tinted windows, both of which violate traffic regulations.
A report from the Traffic Police reveals that the department has imposed significant fines during similar drives over the past six months, which also included penalties against some police personnel. This latest initiative has set a new benchmark for traffic law enforcement in the state. Defaulters who fail to pay their fines will soon face legal notices from the court.
The drive is expected to continue with a focus on strict enforcement and raising awareness of traffic rules among the public.
